Anyone have any luck getting their GMail account set up as a Pop3 on a PPC?
I'm running an audiovox 6600 and can't seem to make it work. Any help would
be appreciated.

when you setup the gmail account in pocket outlook use these settings

pop.gmail.com:995
smtp.gmail.com:465

Make sure you have a checkmark in the ssl and authentication under the
advanced tab.

Done that and still no go. I keep getting:

Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are
connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct. Then, try to
download messages again.

This is both when the PPC is cradled and over sprints connection. It says
logging in and then sending and receiving, but displays the above message
after sending and receiving.

I have the following settings:

Email Address: my gmail email address all lower case
User Info:
Name: my name
user name: my gmail email address, also all lower case
password: my password
Save pass: checked
Account info:
Acct type: Pop3
Name: Gmail
Server info:
Incoming: pop.gmail.com:995
Outgoing: smtp.gmail.com:465
Domain: Left blank
Options (1/3)
Connected and check for messaged every: unchecked
mins: 15 (grayed as the above is unchecked)
connection: The Internet
Options (2/3)
Outgoing requires auth: unchecked
Require SSL: checked
only display: unchecked
last: 3 days (grayed out as the above is unchecked)
Options (3/3)
GetMessage Headers Only
include: checked 2k

GMail settings:
Status: POP is enabled for all mail that has arrived since 8/30/04
When messages are accessed with POP: keep Gmail's copy in the inbox

Anything look wrong with the above? any help you can provide would be
appreciated.

I just checked and that's how I have mine setup as well. I remember others
saying they needed the port numbers for it to work but I just tried on both
my ppc6600's and I have the same setup as Al has illustrated and it works.

When gmail first announced pop support I ran into the same issue, but I

That's what happen to me as well. I got it to send an email when I left work
and had the port numbers in there. Got home and read the link I was given
removed the port numbers, was able to send still, but not receive. Couple
hours later I was able to receive the email from Google.

Seems odd to me, but at least it's working now.

even more odd, after it working for three or four days it stopped. I can no
longer retrieve email, I am still able to send from the PPC via GMail.

Very strange.
