Good multi-tasking and durable notebook

Hey all, I am beginning school soon for Instrumentation & Industrial Automation Technology. I am looking for a durable laptop with good multitasking and responsiveness. I'm leaning towards ASUS or Lenovo, but still open to suggestions. I want an intel processor with at least 4 GB RAM and HDMI output. Anyone have any suggestions for me?
