i didnt notice on my home pc, but when i got to work i noticed the performace went a bit high, i just made sure not to use the google homepage today, big whoopie.

do something nice and the idiots out there complain cause they dont get it, just like with google's brilliant pac-man.

AWESOME GOOGLE! i loved it. All you haters out there, it doesn't lag and i'm using chrome with a Pentium M 1.8 ghz with 1 GB of ram running Windows 7 geeeeeeze, there will always be dicks in this world

I don't know about the previous posts but I like information on how much resources a application/program wastes.

Also from the part of the posts I have read people are just posting facts, so why are so many people on the offensive?

If you like google so much that's fine go on with your happy lives and not posts arrogant comments, ex: get over it, you don't have to play with it, or your doing it wrong. That last one I through in for shits and giggles.

[citation][nom]orionantares[/nom]I think it's actually a pretty nice example of what can be done without Flash these days. [/citation]

Look again, it isn't flash. Each ball is a html div with special styling. All controlled by Javascript.

My brother was playing with this at work today when I was there. His computer can hardly run most things on the internet (Google Maps is rough, Weather Channel maps cause pretty much destruction) and has no chance at multitasking. Probably runs a low-end P4 (even at the time, low-end) and 256-512MB RAM. Hardly ever updated, I think they recently got a newer version of IE (7? 8?).

Everything ran smoothly, no problems at all. What the heck are these people doing to have this cause alarm?

Are there better things to complain about ? I can still watch tv, go to facebook ... and play with ... ( sigh ) Google's Balls and not skip a beat... On with my crusade for bloated code!

I always wanted to test the html5 things..but my primary desktop isnt working..so I'm using a netbook...it isnt pretty on a intel 3150 chipset

never mind...it doesnt lag at all on this netbook..only thing i notice is after you made the balls move and you leave the page it takes like a second longer

I got about 2% additional CPU Usage with Opera. To get it to work though you have to change your site preferences specific to google.com. Just mask as firefox.

I'm not pissed about the balls.

I'm pissed about the data mining, doubleclick, selling MY data like THEY own it and not sharing the revenue with me.

I'll be finding a new search engine the minute S. Brin is no longer at Google as I think he is the only one holding them back from going completely full on Death Star and the Emperor evil.

If people are so attached to their old hardware that doesn't accelerate anything and they're seeing 60% CPU spikes when they play with them, maybe its time to upgrade that 6-8 year old computer if you still want to play the newest, latest internet fun toys? (not to mention upgrade software that better takes advantage of hardware).

Besides, aren't there minimalist Google search pages if you want them? (this was an issue with the Pac Man logo) They had one for IE6 users long while back, and some diagnostic pages for special uses. If its really a problem with performance, why not set one of those as a bookmark or home page?

Barely a touch over 15% on my ancient P4-M laptop (2.4Ghz single core of course) when vigorously wiggling my balls about... but then of course I am using google chrome which supports HTML 5 properly. In IE8 it's much worse ~60-70%.
It's fun, and it's not like you stay on the front page of google for long is it?!

so the difference between flash hogging your CPU and HTML5 hogging your CPU is ??????? I have an OC'ed Quadcore @ 4.0Ghz but I still found them annoying. A small on/off switch would have been nice.

I'm waiting for the class action lawsuit filed on behalf of the poor innocent people who's CPUs used extra electricity due to the google animation forced upon us by the great evil corporation of google.
