I have HP 250 G4 laptop with INtel i3 5005u CPU integrated with Intel hd 5500 graphics...

The problem I noticed recently is the GPU frequency that is 500mhz when plugged in (also on battery(. At random it happens when I unplug the charger the frequency to go up to max 850 mhz and stay there and waste the battery really quick. I have the latest drivers but nothing I try seems to help. The only solution is when I restart the laptop and the frequency returns to normal 500 mhz... Please help?

I solved this so i though I'd write here in case anyone else has that problem in the future. It was the Intel HD optimize for gaming on battery option that caused the problem. It seems that it does not optimize, but it makes battery consumption even worse by decreasing performance and increasing frequency for nothing... 🙁
How are your "power management" settings? Sounds like you have a 'balanced' plan in place when plugged in, and perhaps the 'high performance' configuration when on battery.
