This is just in.... man who loses 100 pounds after seeing himself on google, suddenly walks by a mirror and says "When the f*ck did they invent this?!?!?"

So, you lost about 2lb a week for an entire year? That is certainly impressive, unfortunately that requires an amount of self control and exercise that is rarely seen these days. It's funny to...I see people, KNOW people that are self conscious when it comes down to their thoughts on their weight...but there they are, eating an entire one pound serving of Ben and jerry's ice cream like its nothing. Which is why I have no sympathy for *most* overweight people. You reap what you sow, simple.

good effort trying to intentionally misunderstand, there bub. But no cigar. you know exactly what I'm talking about.
 
Good for him, but not everyone can do it cause not everyone has money to go to a gym and work with a personal trainer....just saying it is possible but is much harder to do it all on your own.

As for the calorie intake. You arent considering that most people who are overweight tend to drink diet pop in the idea that it is 0 calories. Well it is true (atleast mostly) but its really the sugars that are in it that are still making you gain weight.
 
I did the 2 lbs a week thing last year. I'm 6'8" tall and went from ~350 lbs to ~250 lbs(245 lbs at weigh in yesterday). Rigorous training schedule and I took control of what I ate down to tracking calories and controlling the proportions of fat/carbs/protein in my diet.

I'm running a 5k in 27 minutes now, and I'm contemplating whether or not those last 30 lbs are worth the effort to lose. Losing the first 80 lbs was easy compared to now.
 
I heard a great line from a nutritionist on TV a while back that sums it up perfectly.

"Eat less, mostly vegetables".

That's it. If you want to eat more volume of food, substitute veggies for starches and fats. You'd have to eat a lot of carrots/brocolli/spinach/cucumber/celery/peppers/etc to get fat.
 
Lots of posts on here trying to simplify the concept of weight loss and in particular fat loss, as if it's some simple concept when it's actually far from it. Someone posted that apparently "Everyone is an expert", when in fact all the posts I have read here show that pretty much no one is even close to being an expert or even halfway knowledgeable about healthy weight loss. Weight loss =/= fat loss. Consuming the proper calories and the right amount of them to prevent muscle canibalism while losing fat is actually very tedious and takes hard work, dedication and planning.

Sure, you can simplify weight loss by saying burn more calories than you consume. Then what you eat really does not matter, so long as your calorie count is low enough. But when you do this you are hurting yourself more than you are helping, because in the end you will most likely end up losing more muscle than you will fat. You at least want to maintain your muscle while losing the fat, which takes a bit more consideration than a simple math equation of "Calories burned - Calories eaten",

Even harder to accomplish is the ideal: to gain muscle (which increases metabolism thus increases your resting caloric burn) and lose fat simultaneously. To do this you have to be a nutritional nazi -- eating the RIGHT things and excercisin

I have to agree with lejay here. A coworker of mine was in the same boat as you, alidan, before I got him to drink 6 glasses of water a day at work. He has started the p90x program and eats well. He is doing much better, and swears that the water is the key. You are just dehydrated. Drink your 8 glasses a day, eat the low-calorie foods, work out, and tell me you still hurt and are happy being big. It's rough to realize, but once you do something about it, you will free yourself. h2o ftw

i've never heard of anything about too much water being bad for you. if that's true, then there shouldn't be such a thing called water therapy.
 
I'm glad this man lost that weight and has gotten healthier.
However, I am sad that his motivation wasn't the fact that he could barely "walk and talk" but vanity. I guess whatever gets the job done, ey? :)
 
Wait, he only just noticed in this photo that he had gained a lot of weight? I would have thought not being able to see your penis when looking straight down would be the first sign.

It motivated me to not pass out drunk and naked on the front lawn anymore. Now I make sure I'm at least wearing pants. Thank jeebus for Groggle!
