Is the HDMI output turned on in the laptop?
If the laptop screen resolution is incompatible with the TV you would need to change it in the video control panel to the native resolution of the TV.
Try changing the order you boot the laptop and select the input on the TV that it's connected to.
Try a different HDMI input on the TV.
Try a different HDMI cable.
