Handbrake wont convert my video

Hi guys i have a large file that I want to run through handbrake.
It's 220GB avi gameplay footage made with DXtory. I normally use WMM after recording but was told that handbrake would keep the file at the best quality.
I have been able to go to source/add the file and it starts scanning the file which takes about 10 mins.
Then when i try to add to queue i get the error "you must first scan a source and setup your job before adding to the queue"
Can anyone here help me with this? i can post the activity log if that would help.

I just realized that you have an AVI file, what format is it in? Re-running it though another video converted may just make it larger. 220gig is a large file, you may need to check with the program vendor to see if it can even handle such a file or if any special configurations are needed.

just convert the video in compressed formats like mkv from above suggested softwares

Avoid Freemake if you can,it is a shitty single threaded program that will use a single thread on a single core and take 15 minutes to convert out what should take 1-2
