I'd like to connect my blu-ray player to my (old but working great) HK AVR 7000. It is part of a system with a Sony VPL-VW1000 projector. The HK doesn't have a HDMI port. Thanks for any suggestions.

Solution
the projector has hdmi but the hk does not correct? in such a case i would run...

br--(hdmi)-->5.1 audio extractor--(hdmi)-->projector
and connect the 5.1 analog outputs up to the 5.1 analog inputs on the hk

Thanks for the quick response.

That's correct, the projector has hdmi while the hk doesn't.

Two related questions.

1)This is a link to the layout of the HK rear panel

http://manuals.harman.com/HK/Owner's%20Manual/AVR7000%20om.pdf

I'm not sure where to connect the outputs from the extractor as I can't find a "5.1 analog input" on the HK. Current non-blu-ray DVD is connected at #29

2)Is this a reasonable option for the extractor?

Thanks again for your input.

page 9 #3

no, if you went that route you want one with 6ch analog outputs. one that looks like this with 6 jacks output for audio http://www.amazon.com/Top-cofrLD-Audio-Decoder-Extractor-Splitter/dp/B00R79IXIS/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1451705973&sr=1-5&keywords=5.1+analog+hdmi+audio+extractor

.. since i was just looking at a bad angle shot of the rear instead of a manual i missed it, but you have a spdif optical jack. if your blueray can output 5.1 via optical you might want to try this first as going to page 9 #19 may be easier (single cable) if it works out.. not sure if its going to support 5.1 or 2.0 though.
