Hdd is locked

My acer e1 571 6680 has locked up. Says hdd is frozen, it's not the original drive that came with it I had to replace it because of a virus. Purchased a new one few months ago and it's doing the same thing. Acer logo appears then disappears, my question is can the erecovery disc from help me unlock the hdd or should I purchase a hdd and install the recovery disc with the OS software onto the new one ? Please help!!

does it say it is locked? who told you to get a new hd because of the virus & what was the name of the virus?

On the boot screen the hdd says it's frozen, someone told me it could be a virus I'm not too sure though
