I have a computer monitor, with VGA and HDMI input. This monitor has no outputs (like an audio jack) and no built in speakers. I am trying to use the HDMI input for things like gaming consoles and TV. Is there any way I can have sound?

Solution
You need a device that can output the audio.

A receiver (or soundbar with hdmi inputs and outputs) would be the logical way to go. \

The only other option would be to get an hdmi to rca audio adapter like this: http://www.amazon.com/J-Tech-Digital-Registered-Trademark-Extractor/dp/B00G9FDJNA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424281441&sr=8-1&keywords=hdmi+3.5mm
You would put this between the source device and the monitor and then connect pc speakers to it (you can get a RCA to 3.5mm jack cable for this).
There are ways but the HDMI needs to go in to something that can produce sound, such as a receiver, which then outputs to the TV or monitor. Otherwise just get a dedicated set of speakers that plug in to your normal audio jacks.

You have to tell the PC to not use HDMI for audio, but rather the audio ports on the motherboard.
This would be in Control Panel, under Sound.
