HDMI Sound not working

Recently I wanted to watch a movie on TV, but sound was only coming out from the notebook. I looked for ssome answers on the internet, but nothing worked. Somewhere I read that there are some issues with Catalyst Control Centre, but I am not quite sure how to fix it.
My HDMI cable is plugged in, and playback device is selected to default, but there is no response from the TV, no sound output.

I had this problem under Windows with an AMD powered Laptop and HDMI cable. But in my case I could only get sound out of my monitors speakers when all I wanted was the headphone jack to work.

Sorry I'm not of any use for solving this issue. I assume you went into the control panel and tried to select the appropriate sound source?

Just FYI - this isn't an issue in Linux, only Windows.

From what I can gather you have TWO audio devices connected. The first (default) sends sound to the laptop speakers. The second one should send it through the HDMI cable. You have to manually select it from the Control Panel's Audio Devices.
