HDMI to VGA, no audio

My new HP tablet is connected to the projector with HDMI to VGA adapter (video and audio). Visuals work fine, but audio does not. Sound playback on the tablet shows HDMI to VGA audio is default and is working with green bars rising and falling, but there is no sound output. I could use a separate cable from my tablet's audio jack to loudspeakers, but I much rather have the HDMI to VGA adapter carry my audio as well. Are there some settings on my computer that I am missing? Perhaps the adapter if faulty.

VGA can only accept video signals sadly. You have to use a seperate cable for the loudspeakers.
