Solution A A americanaudiophile Aug 11, 2017 To clarify. You have headphones with mic that has a 4 pole plug. Your laptop had the same single jack for both but your desktop has separate headphone and mic jacks. You need a splitter. Nothing digital involved here. https/www.walmart.com/ip/3-5mm-Audio-Mic-Y-Splitter-Cable-Headphone-Adapter-Female-fo-2-Male-Adapter/400572156?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=3225&adid=22222222227083775012&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=196271373785&wl4=pla-313137737656&wl5=9004466&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=113495509&wl11=online&wl12=400572156&wl13=&veh=sem The poles on the headphone/mic plug are different for apple so you would need a different splitter for those.
