Hi,

I am using a Sony VPCSA25GG which comes with a headset/mic combo jack.

I tried connecting a handphone headset (4 section plug) to the jack and the audio works fine but the microphone does not work. I have tried going to audio settings but the only microphone listed is the internal one. Does anyone know how I can get it to work? Is this simply a configuration issue or would I need a splitter/adapter of sorts?

The Sony site does not seem to make mention to a combo jack.

On many computer a combo jack can be made to do one thing or the other via the audio control panel software.

TRRS jacks are not too common on computers, but VERY common on cell phones.

They seem to indicate the notebook has a built in mic already.
