HELP! my cable is gone!

This morning I noticed that all my channels except 2-13 (I live in Los Angeles) were gone. I plus my cable directly into the TV from the wall. WHat do I need to do to get them back? I don't want to open an account with Time Warner. Can I just buy an adapter somewhere else? Please help!

I was under the impression that basic cable channels were free. Why was I able to have them for so many years? I'm confused : /

Nope, they are not free. Many cable companies now require that you have a cable converter box, even for basic service. Seems that TWC has made such a change in your area. Time for an antenna or cable service.

I was thinking I could just buy the digital converter they are requiring but I guess I'll have to just get regular cable now. Thanks everyone!
