my friend is using a windows 8 hp and he has a boot USB (hirens sandisk 15.2) and it wont work his computer wont boot with or without the USB please help me

Please someone help if he does not get it fixed his dad will kick his butt and not allow him to get on any laptop ever again, this is his dads pc

What do you mean it's locked to? Locked to what?

If you were on Windows, clearly you are able to access data on the hard drive without being locked out of it.

he cant boot because it says "hard drive locked" and he has the usb but we need help

Ah, sounds like maybe there is encryption on the hard drive. If that is the case, does his father have the password? For example, if the father logged in, then allowed his son to use the laptop, if it rebooted, it would again require the unlock code.

Did he get it wrong too many times? There may be a timer on it. Shut it off and leave it alone for 10-15 minutes before turning it on and trying again.
...it could still be a failed hard drive. Depending on how it's been treated, for a laptop drive to fail in 2-4 years does not seem unreasonable.

i realy have no idea what the problem is the hard drive might have failed but im not sure thats why i came here
