Hello everyone, I am in need of help regarding the upgrade of my MSI GT680R laptop. I bought 2 memory banks that were very similar to the ones I already had (2x4GB 1066MHz DDR3).
The laptop has 4 slots, one is below the laptop, opening the cover. The second one is below the keyboard. I have tried several variations on the slot usage, and have determined that the laptop will boot if I put either of the RAM packs on the lower side slots, but not if I put them on the ones below the keyboard. If I try to turn the laptop on while any of the latter slots has a RAM module, the screen will stay black and it won't even reach the BIOS screen (The fan starts running but that's about it).
I have updated the BIOS to the latest specified in the manufacturer's site, to no avail. I have also tried disconnecting the CMOS battery for about 10 minutes and it didn't help at all.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
