High quality headphones

So I recently got an Asus Xonar Essence STX sound card and really want a high quality set of headphones to go with it. I primarily use my headset to game, but I am primarily concerned with really good and enveloping noise rather than being able to pinpoint were a bullet cases hits the ground. It is not necessary for the headphones to have a mic, I was just planning on using a mod mic. Does anyone have any recommendations for a set of headphones under $300?

Sennheiser has been a hi end staple in the audiophile market for years ($200 - $300) .... tho I just gave mine up for a Logitech G90 (about $100 on amazon or at Bestbuy

the audiotechnica ath-m50 isnt a bad choice either. they can be had for $100-180 depending on what sort of deal you manage to find.

For the Sennheiser option, I think I narrowed it down to the HD558 and the PC 360. Which one of these do you think provides better sound.
