Hi there.
My Pioneer CLD-2950 had a rather soft videooutput and I was recommended to
get my hands on a Pioneer CLD-D925 instead. Yesterday it arrived.
The picture from the CLD-D925 is indeed sharper, but.....
When playing NTSC-discs, the videooutput is filled with these horisontal
yellow/pink bars.
I've done the usual Google-diggin' and it seems that a lot of folks have had
this problem with the CLD-D925 before me.
They swapped the "infected" players with new ones from Pioneer.
Perhaps Pioneer discovered the flaw early and modified something, so the
later production of the CLD-D925 didn't have this problem.
Now, that's around 7-8 years ago and I'm a bit stucked with this machine.
These are the symptoms:
1: Almost all NTSC-discs [CAV and CLV] have these horisontal yellow/pink
lines, whenever there's red, orange or skincolor.
2: Also on blue color, there's these bars....but they're not yellow/pink,
but just darker than blue.
3: The problem is not there, when playing PAL discs.
4: The bars are most visible at the beginning of the played side and fades
away as the outer end is reached.
5: They can also be seen, when using the still-picture.
Honestly. It looks like the image produced from a very worn-out VHS machine.
I've have used these Laserdiscs for testing.
PAL, Queen "Greatest Flix" CLV, CAV. [OK]
PAL, Terminator 2, CLV. [OK]
PAL, Star Wars, Return of the Jedi, CLV. [OK]
NTSC, Terminator 1, CLV. [OK]
NTSC, Back to the future II, CLV, [Not OK. Bars]
NTSC, RoboCop, Criterion, CAV, [Not OK. Bars]
NTSC, The Abyss, CLV, [Not OK. Bars]
NTSC, Disney, The Lion King, CLV, [Not OK. Bars]
NTSC, Titanic, CLV, [Not OK. Bars]
What's this problem about ?
Can I do something myself ?
Can I do something with the NTSC potentiometers on the printlayout ?
Have someone had their CLD-D925 in for repair and know what can be done ?
I thank everyone in advance.
Best regards.
