Question How can I get my modem/router to recognize my smart TV?

When my WiFi asked for the security key, the app wouldn't recognize our TV. I am not electronically savvy, but I do understand computers pretty well.

When I tried using just WiFi for my laptop, it kept being dropped every few minutes. So I think it may be a WiFi problem with my modem/router.

I hooked up a cable with J45 connections on it. Put one end in the router and the other end in my laptop. That stopped the internet from disconnecting and reconnecting.

Is the issue that the TV sees the signal but won't accept your security code? Any error messages? Not sure what app you are talking about recognizing the TV, you would connect to the WiFi from the TV options not some something else.
