How do I format the SD card for my Tab 4

I'm really not all that sharp, didn't grow up with this stuff. I have a sd card for a Tab 4 that doesn't appear to be detected. It was suggested that I format the card. I don't know how.

If you got the card new, it should not need formatting. However, if the card was not new, and was used in something else, then it could need formatting. Formatting would be done through a computer.
