How do I fully utilize my motherboard's HD sound?

Hi all,

So I have a great pair of headphones. Sennheiser HD 558. And this is my mobo.
http/www.asrock.com/mb/intel/fatal1ty%20z97%20killer/
I want to fully utilize the Realtk HD sound driver of my mobo so my headphones sound as good as they can.
So is there a specific jack I put my headphones in?
How do I configure it?
Do I use "speakers" in my sound config or do i use "realtek digital output"?
Do I set it to surround 5.1, 7.1?
Or stereo or quadraphonic?
I have no idea how to get the best sound out of my headphones so help would be great.
