Solved! how do i get my nvidia k3100 to work with my sager clevo np9170??

hi,
i have a problem trying to get my 4gb k3100 nvidia quadro to work properly with my sager np9170???

i know there is a way something about the bios i think but i do not know and cannot find anything on it...
any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!

it detects it in device manager perfectly and also in gpuz but not in the bios when i first boot it up it says "empty" near vga???

well, i put it in and installed the driver for it and it still does not detect it even though it shows up in device manager??

Can you use it in windows? It's not that big of a problem if it doesn't show up in the bios as long as it works.
Upgrading a laptop gpu is pretty much a nogo even if you have an mxm slot. Since pretty much every manufacturer locks their bios to only detect a certain range of cards (the k3100 is not from the era of your sager so not meant to be dedected/supported). It can work but usually it just doesn't.

well also in cpuz it only says graphic device and not the actual card itself...?? hmm
but it does show my intel hd 3000 graphics..(which i knew it would)
just to add, in gpuz it detects it perfectly with a vbios and everything like the specs but i don't understand why it isin't working though can i like flash them or something??? the k3100?

it WAS showing the BIOS Version but now it isin't???? lol any idea why?

Install msi afterburner and see if the gpu activates/gets used when you try to test it.

For testing any gpu benchmark will do but unigene heaven/valley are simple to use. Do make sure that in the nvidia control panel it's set to use the gpu.

No point in flashing the card if it doesn't start working since it's not supposed to work in that config anyways.

That seems like an incompatible device. Best you can do now is return it and get your money back.

what about if i place an nvidia gtx 560m in would that work??
that's all i have to hopefully get it to work
but isin't there a way to flash it to where it would work??

Just place the original back in.

Best you can do is find a card that is know to work in the system. Also is this a used laptop that you got without the gpu? If so there could be a reason the gpu got removed.

yes it is used but i found a site that has drivers for the same laptop and the same card here:

and i got it barebones so i can hopefully mod it to get it to work =/

The 3000 and 3100 are different cards. They are more than a year apart and the 3100 is using a "refined" kepler architecture. Therefor it's no longer like the k3000m and not being detected as a compatible card. Your sager's officially supported cards are the 600m series, the k3000m, 5010m and for some reason the k2000m was also in some (no official confirmations on that just users running them).

Edit forgot the hd 7950/7970m.

so just sell both cards i guess??
the gtx 560 only boots up for a minute or two then suddenly shuts off..
the other obviously is not working lol
