I've been looking for answers for hours and I can't find anything. I recently was stuck in Safe mode after I typed in msconfig and clicked automatically start in safe mode. My laptop monitor is completely broken, I can't see anything at all on it. So I've been using my tv as an external monitor to use my laptop. Recently, I just obtained alot of malware and viruses that have effected my computer tremendously. Nothing will open after 10 or 15 minutes of logging on. I know how to fix it in safe mode. I was stuck in safe mode and after hours of searching how to get out of safe mode, I finally found a solution in one of the forums to help me get back to normal mode without seeing the monitor and only just using buttons. But now I'm back to normal mode and I'm trying to find out a way to get safe mode to work on my external monitor. Btw, the boot menu doesn't work at all until I get to the windows log in menu. I'm currently using windows 7. Now, I have read many threads of how some people have almost the same problem. But their stuck in safe mode and their external monitors won't allow them to see anything in normal mode. Now, I'm pretty sure, there has to be a way for me to see safe mode on my external monitor if people can only see safe mode on their external monitors. I've heard how you can't see anything on an external monitor in safe mode because the drivers are disabled. Well, how could some people be stuck in safe mode on their external monitors. There has to be a way. Please help me someone :( I dont want to buy a new monitor because its the same price as buying a new computer, and I don't want a new computer, because then I'll lose all my files on here. PLEEEEEEEEEEEASE HELP MEHHHHHH.

Solution
I'd first try, in windows safe mode on the desktop, right clicking the desktop, selecting "screen resolution" or "display properties" , disabling the standard laptop display and enabling your external monitor as the primary display. Depending on how this external display is connected may determine whether or not it is visible during boot. Generally, it's necessary to unplug the panel cable connected to the motherboard in able to entirely disable it as the primary display, but you can try the other method first.

If that fails to work, you will likely need to disassemble the laptop enough to disconnect the ribbon cable at one end or the other. You can google your laptop model for disassembly instructions that are available on youtube for...

WOW! The second solution worked!!! Thank you so much! I unplugged the ribbon cable and removed the broken monitor from the laptop. Took me 2 minutes! I was looking all over the place to find a solution to use safe mode on my tv. No one ever selects the solution on this website. So I don't know if thats the solution. I seen other people say the same thing you said but I thought it was too much of a hassle to do it. But I was wrong, it took two seconds and it actually worked! I just went in safe mode and removed the viruses and now my computer is back to running good just like the old days :)! I'm so happy, thank you for your help bro! Really appreciate it :) I was thinking of buying a replacement monitor for my laptop but I noticed that my laptop hinges are broken and its dented so theres no way I can fix it if all of thats FUBARED. But atleast I can use my tv and keep my laptop as a desktop! Once again, Thank you so much :}
