How do I hook up an old Durabrand model HT-395 HTS with no hdmi to a newer Visio DVD player and Sanyo tv. I cannot get sound when watching tv. I also have satellite.

Your DVD and sat box connect to the TV.
Your HTS has coax and optical digital audio inputs as well as analog inputs.
Your TV will have one of these as an audio output. Analog audio out can be a headphone jack. Use the digital connection if your have that since it will sound better. Check that you can set the TV to output in surround sound in the TV audio menu.
