How do i hook up my dell inspiron to my mitsubishi hdtv

hello i have a dell inspiron lap tom and im wanting to view and here it on my mitsubishi 65 inch hdtv however there both smarter than I. Is there anyway you can help me figure out how to connect the two?

we need a model number of the laptop and a model number of the television.
dont know what connections are available, or what adaptors/convertors are needed.

maybe we get it connected and fail to see the option in the television menu (or in the laptop menu) to turn the connection on.
