How do I replace the hard drive?

However, the hard drive is sub-par as it is 5400 rpm. Could I just buy a 7200 rpm hard drive on newegg and replace it? If so, a link to a compatible hard drive would be appreciated.

You could but will see little difference in speed....

OR you could replace it with an SSD and see a BIG difference...

You can buy a laptop w/ 7200 rpm drives, most manufacturer's will provide the upgrade

I don't know that you can "user replace" HD's in a Lenovo laptop, but if ya can, this is what I put in them. I have units with SSD and a HD and others with these Hybrid Momentus SSD/HDs and no one on the office can tell the difference. The hybrid units s boot 1 second slower than the SSD.

In a hp, you can replace the hard drive. But so I can just buy this hard drive, but it doesnt say its compatitble does it?
