How do I unlock my (removed) laptop hard drive

Hello,
I have removed the hard drive from my 'Packard Bell' laptop and I am trying to access the contents using a 'Lacie' external caddy, but "access is denied"; possibly because there was a password lock on my laptop. Is there a way to remove the lock and access the hard drive?

If there was a BIOS password, then no, you cannot access the drive. Put it back in the original laptop and remove the password. Otherwise you need to use the backups you had, right?

I have 160gb seagate hard drive from bt box it has maximum security. How can i unlock the disk. Is there a magic software for it? Help please.
