How do you connect and set up a Bose Solo 5 sound system to a Panasonic Viera TV?

Hi!
I'm not sure which thread is most appropriate for this question, apologies for any mistakes here and there.

We are having a few issues with connecting a Bose Solo 5 sound system to a Panasonic Viera TV.
We have followed the instruction manual and connected the sound system to the TV via an optical cable, using the appropriate ports. However when turned on, there is no sound from the sound system. The sound system is turned on and we configured the remote to the TV. The remote is responsive except for the volume button which doesn't change the volume at all. The sound is only coming from the TV and we are unsure on how to receive audio from the Sound system.

Can someone provide advice on how to set up the Bose Solo 5 sound system from beginning to end please? Greatly appreciated

Check the TV menus. There may be more than one audio output type. Select the other one. On some TVs you have to turn the TV speakers off to get the optical out to turn on. Make sure you have selected the optical input on the Bose.
The optical audio output of your TV is fixed volume so you will have to use the Bose remote instead of the TV remote to adjust volume.
