Lenovo service = 5 days standard, possibly weeks if they're waiting on parts.
Thinkpad service = 16-48 hours, same-day or overnight depending on location and scope of problem. I have shipped a laptop to them in the early afternoon, and gotten it back fixed the next morning. They had FedEx drop off a shipping box within 45 minutes of me making the call, and I just had to call FedEx when the box was ready to be picked up (they paid shipping both ways). If you press them, they will ship the necessary parts to an authorized service center nearby you. You can then bring your laptop in and wait a couple hours while the repair shop performs the repair. (I suspect you can do this the other way round too - bring the laptop to an authorized repair shop, they diagnose the problem and order the parts from Lenovo (if they don't have them on hand), and do the repair under warranty when the parts arrive.)
The exception is if they don't have the parts, in which case you may end up waiting weeks. So when you call, ask them if they have the parts in stock and the estimated turnaround time. If they don't have the parts in stock, request service at a local authorized service center. They will notify you when they get the parts shipped to the repair store.
