Solved! How long will a 6970m last me?

Hey guys

I'm looking at an open boxed but never used Sager Np8150(used) with a 1 year warranty and a 6970m for $1200.

Purpose will be for gaming playing games such as BF3, MW3, Skyrim at max settings

I don't exactly need the laptop yet because none of these games are out yet, but this deal is pretty good and it ends today so I don't want to miss it.

My question is by christmas time, could I get this kind of deal again? By then the 6970's will be still amazing but "out of date." So I am hoping they will come cheaper, but as cheap as this?

Also, how long will a 6970m last me with current and future games? I'm looking to get 3-5 years before I upgrade.

Well, mobile GPUs are slower than their desktop counterparts, so a 6970m could be like a desktop 6850. Which will handle MW3 without problems and I don't know how about Skyrim, but you're not going to max BF3 out with that. So if you want, it take it.

Well besides the 6990m, there isn't any single mobile gpu better than that. So I guess it's my best bet.

I hear that my Sager won't be able to handle BF3 at even medium settings at 1080p. Because my cpu is the bottleneck, the i7 2630qm 2.0 Ghz, what settings do you guys think I can run BF3 at?

You'll probably be able to play it on medium settings @ 1920x1080 resolution.

How long the card will last you will depend on how low the performance is too low for your liking. Only you can determine that.
