How many cores does i7-2670qm processor 2 20 ghz with turbo boost up to 3 10 ghz

Please help, why is i7 with lower GHZ of 2.2 is better than Quad core 3.1GHZ, please explain this GHz concept.

What are you talking about?

The i7 2670QM is a quad core CPU, 2 thread per core (8 thread in total). Default @ 2.2GHz for all cores and turbo boost is 2200MHz+(6/6/8/9)x100MHz for 4/3/2/1 core, that is to say turbo boost of 2.8GHz for 4 core, 2.8GHz for 3 core, 3.0GHz for 2 core and 3.1GHz for 1 core.

Thanks Pyree, I dont understand these things previously. but your mail is very informative. Now i got some of the technical terms.

so can i say i7 2.2 with turboboost upto 3.1 < core 2 duo 3.1 GHz

also, i needed to ask if these i3,i5, i7 are better than previous processors . how is it so?

Your i7 will beat the C2D CPU at the same GHz (2 core C2D vs 4 core i7, as well as better efficiency of Intel Core i series CPU compared to Intel Core 2 series CPU).
