Solved! How many pins needed on ribbon cable?

I need to replace a ribbon cable with "JI-HAW AWM E118077 2896 80C 30V VW-1" printed on it, but on ebay the same cable is for sale with different numbers of pins. how do i know how many pins it should have?

What are you trying to hook up with this ribbon cable?

You have to look to the cable you have and count the number of pins...or count the pins of the plug

the cable goes between the keyboard section and main section of a laptop. no clue which things it connects.

Then, your best bet is to follow the advice of MasterWigu, and count the pins on the cable you are replacing.

That would depend on the amount of clearance that exists in your laptop, particularly on what's around the header that you will be connecting.
