How to bring up menu on TV using the toggle switch on Samsung UN32f5500

Have used TV. Blue light in back comes on with plug in and turns on and off with remote I purchased but screen doesn't comes on. No menu.
Can't seem to get right code to turn on the screen.

There should be a power button on the TV you can try. That would eliminate the remote as your problem. There would not be a separate control or button to turn on the screen. Sounds like the TV is broken.

THis is not an answer, but a reply to your answer. Thanks for your quick response. I can't find a power button on the TV anywhere. THere is a Toggle on the back. Someone said pressing it straight on, turns the Tv on and off, seems to work, but screen doesn't "light up". The toggle makes beeps when I move the toggle right and left (the volume we believe?)
Also the universal remote turns the blue light on back, inside, on and off, but can't seem to find the right code for the tv. I'm not an expert at getting the instructions right, maybe. But yes, the tv could be broken, but thought it was a good sign that the light is turning on and off. COuld it just be a matter of the right programming of the remote? Thanks for your final response to this. I appreciate the help.
