how to cast Kodi movie to device (TV or Blu ray player)?

Devices show up when it's time to play the movie, but when I choose anything other than the dvd player (other choices are TV or Blu ray player), nothing happens and I can only watch on the computer.

Kodi is an application that can run on many things, what is it running on and how is it connected to the TV? If it's on a computer, did you connect the computer to the TV? With what connection? Is the TV seen as a monitor in the computer?

TV is hooked up thru Wi Fi. Movies and video in files on the computer can be cast to my Blu ray player (and played on the TV) or directly to the TV to be watched. When I play movies thru Kodi, which is loaded on my computer, before they begin it always asks which device do I wish to use for viewing. The only choice of the three that works is dvd player and then it plays on the computer. I just ordered a Fire stick & will reload Kodi on there and play it thru the TV. I'm certain that will work. I just thought it should work from the computer.
