How to connect a yamaha rx v363 reciever?

Im using a hdmi splitter. Ive connected the xbox, firestick and sky into the hdmi splitter then connected that into the (tv in) in the receiver then output from receiver to the tv.

My surround 5.1 system wont play the sound through the speakers? The sound is still coming from the tv speakers???

Can anyone please help or tell me where im going wrong.

Most TV won't passthru surround information in that manner. Don't ask me why, they just don't.

The correct way is: Components (including xbox)------> Receiver ------> TV.
