How to connect Olevia LCD tv to basic cable?

I have a 6 yr old Olivia LCD tv, Model LT37HVS. I cannot locate the original remote, so I have purchased a universal remote. I have connected an RF Cable directly into the TV, in the DTV connection. I have also tried the ANT connection. In the DTV connection, with the source set to DTV, I get a message to Please scan channels. But I cannot figure out how to make it scan the channels. I am thinking it is not connected properly, but I don't know what else to try. How can I connect this TV directly to basic cable (no cable box)?

There's nothing wrong with your connection. You need to figure out how to get into the On-Screen Display (OSD) using your universal remote. Once in the OSD, you should be able to navigate to the channel set up section and scan for channels.
