How to Enable Internet Access on Receiver

I cannot get a connection from Belkin router to Sony receiver for LG hdtv, wirelessly (signal strength oscillates between 0 and at most 60%; wireless router is not 'auto' searching for channels) OR wired (cat5 cable -works fine with xbox360). Troubleshooting lists a lot of "failed"s. The DHCP server is "enabled" online. "sony-player" is on the DHCP client list. I have power cycled, reset, restored, and moved the router closer (even wired it directly) and tested connections on both ends... What am I missing? It seems unlikely these devices are not compatible.

Does the Router have a firewall that is preventing the receiver to access the internet?
