The Roku device has a secret menu you may not know about. You can access it by using your remote and it has many functions, including factory resetting your device. The steps below will guide you through how to find the hidden menus on your Roku device.
1. Press the Home key 5 times
Pressing the home key will reveal the list of channels on your device. The home key makes it easy for you to exit any screen on your Roku. This makes the home screen one of the most valuable keys on your remote.
2. Press Fast Forward 3 times
As you press the FF button, your screen will move from ‘Home’ to ‘Settings’ to ‘Search’. This may vary depending on your location. The fast-forward button, as its name implies, is used to fast forward a video. Ignore whatever is happening on your screen at this moment.
3. Press Rewind twice
When you press the rewind button the second time, the hidden menu should pop up, labeled ‘Secret Screen'. The options you will find on the Secret Screen include; ‘Factory reset’, ‘Cycle channel store server’, Cycle software update server’, ‘Update software’, ‘Disable debug logging’, and ‘Back’.
4. Factory Reset
Pressing the center button/OK when you scroll to the ‘Factory reset’ will reset your device. This is useful if you want to get rid of all your personal data before selling your Roku device.
5. Cycle Channel Store server
Pressing the center button/OK will change the option on the second line in the top left hand corner. If there is a problem with one server feed of the app store, you can change to another one.
6. Cycle Software update server
Pressing the center button/OK on your remote also changes the server option. This allows you to change the server from which you update your software if it is not working or is too slow.
