How to format a memory card

Hello,
I want to format my camera so that I can be able to take pictures as well as to view them. Do you know how to?

Insert the card in the camera. There will be 2 buttons that you should simultaneously press for formatting the card. Details if necessary will be in the user's manual.

If possible, formatting the card in a computer may be a better idea.

If I format the memory cards in my Olympus, my computer cannot read them. The opposite is not true.
