How to text a pocket wireless phone from my home comouter

can i send text messages to some ones (my) phone from a computer ? I thought I was was able to and could send a text message by sending ur message instead of to an address sending it to the phone #@ sms.pocket.com i.e. 210-555-5555@sms.pocket.com ??? no? is that wrong;and if so is there aright way? thank you, Mark C
