HP Pavilion laptop won't turn on

When the dc power jack is plugged in and pulled out the led light flashes on and fades out, as if it was given power for a milisecond. There is no response from the power button at all.. The problem started when the power cable was kicked out during start-up repair and the laptop cut out and didn't turn back on. I initially thought it was the power jack input but as the led light is flashing now i'm not so sure, any suggestions would be appreciated

Try taking out the battery, then start it. Sometimes it is the battery that is dead (and shorted internally) that prevents a start up on laptops.

Try the next thing then, take out the battery, unplug the machine and hold down the power button (this may reset the CMOS) for 10 seconds or so. Then replug only the power (no battery), and try turning it on.

Do you still have those LEDs flashing while trying to power up with ONLY the power adapter and no battery ?

The LEDs have stopped flashing altogether, maybe it is just the dc power socket..

The LEDs have stopped flashing altogether, maybe it is just the dc power socket..

Those are my thoughts. It sounds like your battery is dead/nearly dead, and your DC port isn't passing current.
