Solved! Hp pavillion dv9000 problems

Hello,
i have a dv9000. when i power it up the lights on the keyboard light up except for the num lock and caps lock. it powers up for a couple of seconds and then powers up and the process begins again. the only way it will stay on is to hit alt-ctrl-delete. it never boots though. btw the way the screen lights dont come on either during this process. what is the problem and how do i fix it.

It sounds like you have the Nvidia graphics chip overheating problem, where over time, the heating and cooling of the laptop's motherboard and graphics chip causes the the solder connecting them to break, resulting in a laptop that wont boot up or even display to an external monitor. This is unfortunately very common with lots of people suffering the same problem. If you Google "HP Nvidia defect" you'll find pages of the same thing.

It could be repairable but can be quite expensive buying and getting the replacement motherboard fitted or in some cases the solder between the motherboard and graphics chip can be reflowed (presuming the overheating hasn't permanently damaged to the chip ), which can be done by sending it to someone who specialises in this type of repair. There are other ways to reflow the GPU, like oven baking the board or using a heatgun but have varying degrees of success and probably only used as a last resort. (there are lots of videos on Youtube featuring the many ways of trying this)

Sorry it is a dv 9700 service tag of dv9819wm. does that make a difference.
