HTC Vive 2?

I'm planing on in the future (probably Christmas 2017) getting an HTC Vive, but I know that they are coming up on a year old and that new controllers and lighthouses are in the works. I'm wondering if iI should wait until the Vive 2 comes out before getting a new one, and I don't want to wait too long after Christmas before I get it. Anyone have any guesses on when they think Valve/HTC will release the new Vive?

A new Vive is likely still a ways off, like late 2018 or after.

But there are other VR headsets on the way, including LG's SteamVR headset. They showed off a prototype recently at GDC. They were still asking for feedback on which areas to improve, so it might be a good while until the final version arrives. But most likely before the Vive 2.
