I can't get my Sony DVD player to work with my Vizio sound bar, it only works on the direct TV box

I have the DVD player hooked up with dmi but can't get sound through the sound bar

Assuming you get audio on the soundbar from other sources try changing the audio output type in the DVD player audio menu.
