I formatted my SSD and then cloned my hard drive to it using Macrium. After installation it won't boot.

After I installed the cloned SSD into my Lenovo G585 laptop and I turned it on, all I get is a black screen filled with data. I pressed F12 and the SSD is recognized but it won't open properly. I did this procedure once before with another laptop and it worked fine. I don't know what I have to do different. Thank you for whatever suggestions you can offer. I have a Lenovo G585 with a
297GB drive with only 34 GB being used and loaded with Windows 8.1. The SSD is 256 GB.

Unfortunately, sometimes the cloning process doesn't happen as expected. However, if you simply repeat the procedure it might work properly. First of all, I'd suggest you boot from the HDD and check how both drives appear in Disk Management. There might be something essential for the OS missing from the SSD. I'd also recommend you check your BIOS settings and make sure that the boot priority is set properly and the SATA mode for the SSD is configured in AHCI. If none of these help you boot properly with the SSD (booting), then you should most definitely repeat the cloning procedure.
There are other utilities you can use as well, here's a thread from the community that can shed some light on those.

I tried cloning again and this time I get a blue screen that says Recovery, but it doesn't boot. The Bios is set to AHCI.

The blue screen says Recovery and shows error 0xc000000e. I'm not sure how to resolve this issue. Thanks for whatever advice you can offer.

I'd recommend repeating the cloning procedure again. Unfortunately, sometimes, the cloning process might not be completed properly which tends to cause such booting errors.

Better yet, if you want to go through the struggle of reinstalling everything, it's probably best to clean install Windows on the SSD. However, make sure you keep the HDD unplugged during the process. If you have both the SSD & HDD connected while performing a fresh install of Windows, you might encounter an OS confusion which would cause further booting issues.

I finally had success by using a different cloning program. There are many to choose from - some are good and some aren't. If you have a failure, try another program. The one that worked for me was AOEMI Backupper. I don't know if that will work as well for everyone but I finally had success with it. Thanks for all your suggestions and good luck to those who are still working on it.

After several tries I finally had success with AOMEI Backupper. It is the only one I tried out of at least six that would boot up right away after I cloned and then installed. Good luck to those of you who are still trying.
