I Have A Samsung Smart TV Model# UN46D600SF. I sit about 12 feet from the TV and , because I can't hear too well, would like to connect either a wired or Bluetooth speaker. The connectors on the back include a

Connect the TV's optical output to the input of the box, and your wired headphones to the output (making sure the output of the TV is set to 'optical out' or 'SPDIF'

With this you could also connect a bluetooth transmitter like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Home-Audio-Video-Accessories/August-MR250-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Headphones/B00LATHJUO to the headphone output, and connect a set of bluetooth headphones.
