Solved! I have internet connection but I cannot connect to the internet

I am using Windows 8.1.

For the last few days I cannot connect to the internet although I have an internet connection.

At first I could connect using Brave, but not Chrome. Yesterday I could not connect with either chrome or Brave but I could connect using Firefox and today I couldn't connect with any of the three.

I get a DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN error.

When I first noticed this, I could connect to instagram for example but I couldn't do a google search.

I tried changing to Google DNS, I flushed DNS and I renewed IP through command line, I reset chrome but nothing works.

If I am in Safe Mode with networking enabled, everything is working fine and there is not such a problem.

i have another computer with Windows 10, and it has the same problem.

Could this be caused from a virus or trojan?

I did a scan using Malwarebytes and Microsoft Safety Scanner.

Microsoft Safety Scanner found nothing, and Malwarebytes found a potentially unwanted application at:



PUP.Optional.MyStart, C:\USERS\STEVE\APPDATA\ROAMING\SEARCH THE WEB



I have Comodo Firewall installed, and when I first noticed the problem, both the firewall and avast antivirus would crash at the windows startup.
