I have just become a user of Directv and see that my Windows Media Center doesn't work with Direct TV. The Directv installer said I just needed a cable of some kind that he didn't have and didn't offer to procure. Tech support is useless. What to do?

Solution
Your answer is to go back to cable or over-the-air broadcasts. TV Tuner cards are not compatible with DirecTV satellite signals.

Thanks for taking the time to reply Mr./Mrs. anonymous but the link only replicates what I've been sent by DIRECTV. It's no problem for me to stream video before and after having DIRECTV become my entertainment provider. What is not working is that my multi media PC with the Win Media center software and TV tuner card apparently can't read the satellite TV signals. Again, watching streaming video on the internet is one thing. Receiving TV through my PC and recording TV programs to the hard drive is another. When the Win Media Center was functional (before installing DirecTV) I could program it to record programs on any channel at any time and at any hour. The answer to my problem still goes begging.

Directv does a lot of media protection due to copyright laws. in order to view your recorded content on computers, you'll need the directv2pc app, or a geniego which is a in network media converter.
