I recently bought a headset, but my laptop only has 1 combined mic/headphone jack, and the mic doesn't show up.

The mic does not show up both when using a splitter or when not using a splitter. PLEASE HELP!!!! I have looked in sound section of the control panel. My laptop is a U410 Touch

That's the wrong one, if you read it, it's a "SPLITTER" for an iPod or MP3...

That's the wrong one, if you read it, it's a "SPLITTER" for an iPod or MP3 player, not an ADAPTER for a phone. That splitter you got does exactly that, it splits a single audio stream into two so you can attach two headphones to one device.

What you need is an ADAPTER to use with a phone (the laptop uses the same single connection like a cell phone does for both mic and speakers) like the one I listed.
